The Sequim Education Foundation has a volunteer, nine-member board of directors elected from the community. In addition, a member of the School Board, the Superintendent of Schools, and two student representatives sit on the SEF board. Because of its very low operating expenses, nearly 100% of every dollar donated is used to help students, teachers, and schools in Sequim. SEF grant and scholarship programs are announced each school year. Students, teachers, and/or schools may apply and compete for these awards. Specially constituted committees chaired by individual directors of Sequim Education Foundation, and staffed by members of the Sequim community review applications and recommend awards to the SEF board. Every effort is made to benefit the most deserving students with funds available.
